Complete beginners are required to join A101 classes (as per Common European Framework of Reference for Languages curriculum). Depending on their age they will be encouraged to join kids, teens or adult classes. 

A placement test is required for students with prior knowledge of French. AFHK will charge immediately a fee of $150 to book an appointment spot.  Without receiving the payment within 48 hours, AFHK reserves the right to remove the spot without any notice. Furthermore, in case of no show the fee is non-refundable.

Alliance Française accepts the following payment methods: Cheque, EPS/Union Pay/ Visa/ Mastercard/ cash (exact amount).

The test consists of a short placement test online (adults only) and a 10-15 mins interview  with one of our teachers. Our team will then assess your speaking skills and suggest the course that best matches your level of competence in the language. 

Kids are not required to take the online test prior to making an appointment with one of our teachers to assess their level.

Learners eligible to study at Alliance Française must be Hong Kong residents (Hong Kong ID card holder) or student visa holder. 

Registration opens the 1st day of the month preceding the session starts (i.e. December 1 for Winter Term, March 1 for Spring Term, June 1 for Summer Term, September 1 for Autumn Term).

Registration for intensive summer classes for kids and teens starts on March.

Regular group class fee starts from $90/hour for adults and from $125 for kids/teens.

No refund or make-up class will be arranged due to absence of the student for any reason.

AF Rewards card is a way for you to acquire points and special discounts that reward your loyalty.
Students will receive a stamp for each $1,500 spent per transaction. Splitting of bills or combination of bills is not allowed. 
5 stamps must be collected to enjoy 10% off on French class tuition fees (private tuition not included).

Students need to purchase textbooks or materials at an additional cost, unless otherwise specified.

They are also required to pay a membership/registration fees of HKD 100 (valid for 1 year). The membership card will also grant privileged access to a wide range of social, educational and cultural activities as well as exclusive offers all year long with our partners around the city.

Our teachers are native from France or having grown in a French-speaking environment. They all hold a degree for teaching French  language and are certified examiners too.
We have experienced permanent full-time teachers and non-permanent teachers, using a communicative approach to ensure full language immersion to our students.

Upon the completion of a course, students might automatically receive a certificate for certain levels and on demand for all levels.
Any request for “certificate of attendance” must be in writing. (standard copy free of charge but administration fee may apply to any supplementary information).

Regular classes for teens and adults have a max. capacity between 16 and 18, depending on level and centre. We also propose some small classes for teens and adults that have 9 students max.

Kids 2 classes are limited to 15 kids.
Preschoolers and Kids 1 classes are limited to 9 kids.
Toddlers classes are limited to 6 (+6 parents).

Learning is an individual journey and the time it takes to attain a certain level depends on various personal factors, such as your time input and commitment.  

Alliance Francaise offers students the opportunity to build up their language skills in autonomy  outside the classroom. Its Médiathèque features an extensive collection of items and various learning resources suitable for every age and language available for free.
We offer also some digital tools as HK in French or Frantastique. Check our page Online courses. 
Social, educational and cultural events are also organised all year long to give students the opportunity to be exposed to French language and socialize with a community of French lovers.
Also, of relevance is the intensity of the instruction (intensive vs. evening courses, for example).

Alliance Française is Hong Kong official French language centre and is the only accredited official examination centre to conduct all the diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education such as DELF and DALF, TCF and TCFQ.

Thanks to a team of 40+ qualified native French-speaking teachers, Alliance Française is able to guarantee the curriculum continuity from A1 to C1 levels via a large range of courses, including specialised courses, private tuition, workshops, immersion days and more.

Studying online is a convenient way either to start learning or to practice a language. We offer both Online Groups or Private Tuition packages.

Our online courses include live sessions on ZOOM which allow speaking, listening, and interactions with teachers and fellow students. Writing and grammatical activities will take place on online community platforms (different according to your level) during the online class. 

For a 1h30 session the online class combines:
1. Web-meeting with ZOOM : discovering, speaking, listening, interactions with teacher and group.
2. Writing and grammatical activities on Student Portal.

For a 3 hours session the online class rolls out in 3 shifts:
 
1 - 75 mins of web-meeting with ZOOM : discovering, speaking, listening, interactions with teacher and group.
2 - 45 mins of active break and online self-working, writing and grammatical activities on Student Portal.
3 - 75 mins of correction of activities, mediation, speaking, listening, interactions with teacher and group.  

Students of the Alliance Française de Hong Kong are granted the membership of our Association with their registration. 

For non-students we offer various annual membership types from students and individual adults to family and corporations from HK$100 and up.

Alliance Française de Hong Kong is the only accredited institution in Hong Kong that delivers French language studies diplomas in the city.

We recommend our students to take DELF Prim and/or Delf Junior from a young age. The exam types depend on level and age groups. 

Adults can register for DELF/DALF when completing sub-levels such as: A104 - A206 - B106 or B206.

TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français / French Language Evaluation Test) allows non-native speakers of French to obtain a simple, effective and precise evaluation of their skills in comprehension and expression.

Candidates will receive a certificate issued by the French Ministry of Education. It is valid for 2 years from taking the test.

The certificate shows results with a total score between 100 and 699 as well as a mention of the corresponding Common European Reference Framework for Languages level, from A1 to C2.

The DELF (Diploma of French Language Studies) and the DALF (Advanced Diploma of French Language Studies) are life-long diplomas of French as a second language with international recognition.

DELF certification are internationally recognised and may qualify for credits under various educative systems in the world, like in Canada, in BC. This means that passing the DELF grants you or your children extra chances for entering the best Universities in a series of countries.

Alliance Française de Hong Kong is the official center of French Exams and Diplomas in the city and welcomes all french learners to get their levels recognised with them.

The best way to prepare for your exams is to take a regular course with us and end your first sublevels. Based on your progression, your teacher will let you know if you are ready for the official exam.

Each exams season, Alliance Francaise offers a range of workshops and grammar clinics to help you improve specific skills and you can register for Mock Exams in order to prepare for the official exam.

All exams are organised at HK Scout Centre and Alliance Française, Jordan, during business hours.

Please note that candidates will not be able to choose their oral examination date and time.

You can reach out to our team and request a new exams attestation. However, if you wish to receive a new official copy of your diploma it will take up to 2 months and will cost HKD200 to reprint. 

You can borrow a book at the main library in Jordan and also in the library areas of our Wanchai and Shatin centers. Jordan library opening hours: Monday to Friday: from 12pm to 8pm, Saturday: from 10 am to 5pm, Sunday: closed. Wanchai and Shatin: same as the centers’ opening hours.

Our students can access the library and borrow titles for free as they are given a full-time student membership card when registering for a class with us (100 HKD per year).

Should you not be a student of Alliance Francaise you can access the library buying a membership:

• Individual membership: 350 HKD (per year)
  
• Family membership (2 adults and 2 children): 500 HKD (per year)
