Celebrate Lunar New Year with Sharon le dragon
Celebrate Lunar New Year through Story Telling x DIY Fai Chun Activity
Upcoming is another reading-and-handcraft workshop for young kids, featuring the story book "Des Etincelles et des flammes : Une Aventure de Sharon le dragon " (A Mighty Flame: An Adventure of Sharon the Dragon). The Hong Kong-based Swiss author Karine Yoakin Pasquier will be present and lead us on a journey full of dragons of the East and the West!
The one-hour workshop will start with a story-telling time with traditional Japanese art Kamishibai (紙芝居)
in French and English. Following this, children will have the chance to design their own Fai
Chun
(揮春), a traditional decoration of Lunar New Year, inspired by the universe of the story. We will learn to make a wish in French!
The workshop is open to kids from 3-7 years old (PS Preschoolers &
ES Young Kids in AF curriculum). Diffentiated activity including some writing will
be proposed to the elder ones (6-7). If you missed our last workshop, or have never been to one, this is it! Grab your place!
Check out the book and others of the same series on their website.
Highlights from the last young kids workshop
The Book : Des Etincelles et des flammes
Hi, I'm Sharon. I'm so excited. This spring, Dad, Mom and I are going on a trip to Sichuan, China, to reunite with our family for the holidays. My only problem: my cousins absolutely want to know how to breathe fire, and I don't know how to do it... I'll have to find a trick to answer them.
The album presents both Chinese and Western dragons and the specificities of the Sichuan province in China: the city of Chengdu, the red pandas and the chili peppers.
