Le CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Art, and Textile) accueille actuellement l'exposition de
l'artiste hongkongais Kingsley Ng : "Listen to the Sound of the Earth Spinning". Elle siège dans l'ancienne
usine de filature de coton Nan Fung Textiles, aujourd'hui transformée en centre culturel dans lequel les animaux sont les bienvenus !

The Centre for Heritage, Art, and Textile presents the exhibition "Listen to the Sound of the Earth Spinning"
by Hong Kong artist and designer Kingsley Ng. The showcase is housed in the historic cotton-spinning mills of Nan Fung Textiles, now transformed into a pet-friendly cultural hub.

Kingsley Ng est un artiste et designer hongkongais qui travaille essentiellement sur des projets conceptuels
: il estime que l'espace d'exposition est constitutif de l'œuvre d'art. Il crée des installations intéractives avec lesquelles le
public peut intéragir et par-là méditer sur son environnement.

Ng a étudié au Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains - en France aux côtés de Jean-Luc
Godard.
Il a ensuite obtenu une maîtrise en Design durable à l'université d'Édimbourg et une licence en nouveaux médias à
l'université Ryerson. Il est actuellement professeur associé à l'Académie des arts visuels de l'Université Baptist de
Hong Kong.

Ng studied with Jean-Luc Godard at Le Fresnoy - Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France.
He then obtained a MA in Sustainable Design at the University of Edinburgh and a BA in New Media at Ryerson University. Currently, Ng is an
Associate Professor at the Academy of Visual Arts, Baptist University, Hong Kong.

L'exposition interactive de Kingsley présente l'héritage du textile comme un médium artistique : elle mobilise du textile
et des anciens outils dans des créations qui nous invitent à explorer l'art à travers nos sens : sons, lumières, images, vibrations,
ateliers manuels... L'objectif est de découvrir un monde libéré du prisme anthropocène, et de contempler d'autres formes de vie.

The heritage of textile is presented as an artistic medium. Ng's innovative interactive creations, crafted from
textile materials and tools, beautifully intertwine sound, light, image, and kinetic installations. The exhibition's profound purpose
is to transport us to an Earth untouched by the Anthropocene era, inviting us to contemplate alternative forms of life.

Ng est notamment connu pour son installation Musical Loom, créée en 2005 et actuellement exposée au Mills. Il a
transformé une machine à tisser de 250 ans en un instrument de musique intéractif. Les participants peuvent contrôler un
faisceaux lumineux et tisser des sons. Le métier à tisser étant français, l'oeuvre s'inscrit directement dans la France du
XVIIIe siècle,
où l'industrie textile du nord a eu un fort impact historique.

Ng is best known for his Musical Loom installation, which was created in 2005 and is currently on display at the
Mills. He transformed a 250-year-old weaving machine into an interactive musical instrument through technology.
Participants can control a beam of light and create weaving sounds. As the loom is French, the work is directly linked to
18th-century France,
where the textile industry had a strong historical impact.

visiteurs des workshops de couture, teinture ou de fabrication d'acessoires et de costumes.
