Join us to celebrate the Candlemas (La Chandeleur) together at the Alliance Française.
Bring families & friends and enjoy French authentic crêpes, one of the French people favorite delicacies, while sipping delicious cider.
Celebrated each February 2nd, la Chandeleur has mixed origins. First, it’s a Holy Day in the Catholic Church. To celebrate the presentation of Jesus Christ in the Temple after his birth, people started to light up candles in the street, becoming Candlemas. Second, eating crêpes comes from an ancient holyday to celebrate the harvest. As a result, it became a tradition in France to eat crêpes on February the 2nd, and French people really enjoy that day!
